The mission of the Washington County Long Term Recovery Group is to partner with faith-based organizations, volunteer and social agencies, governmental agencies, community organizations, businesses, and individual volunteers to address the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of the individuals and families affected by disaster. The goal of the Washington County Long Term Recovery Group is to enable all residents to recover from disaster to the greatest extent possible given the available resources.

  • WASHINGTON COUNTY LONG TERM RECOVERY GROUP RELEASES 2025 ANNUAL REPORT
    The Washington County Long Term Recovery Group (WCLTRG) has released its 2025 Annual Report, detailing the significant progress made in restoring the community following the devastating Hurricane Helene flood of 2024. The report serves as a comprehensive overview of the group’s mission to coordinate resources, distribute aid, and provide guidance to residents navigating the path back to stability.

    The First Tennessee Development District (FTDD) acts as the fiscal agent for the Washington County Long Term Recovery Group.

The WCLTRG coordinates long-term recovery efforts, distributes essential resources, and provides support and guidance to residents affected by catastrophic events.
  • One-Year Anniversary of Hurricane Helene Commemorated in Washington County
    On the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Helene, the Washington County Long Term Recovery Group hosted a heartfelt community dinner at The Farm at Jackson Bridge. The event brought together over 450 attendees, including local officials, first responders, and community members, to reflect on the resilience and recovery efforts following the devastating storm.

    On September 27, 2024, flood damage from Hurricane Helene devastated Northeast Tennessee and Western North Carolina. On September 30, 2024, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee declared the state a disaster and requested federal support. U.S. President Joe Biden declared the area a federal disaster on October 2, 2024. Washington County was one of six counties in Tennessee impacted by the flood. In response to the disaster, the Washington County Long Term Recovery Group was formed in November 2024 to help coordinate recovery, distribute resources, and provide critical information to residents of Washington County, Tennessee.
