WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN – The Washington County Long Term Recovery Group (WCLTRG) has released its 2025 Annual Report, detailing the significant progress made in restoring the community following the devastating Hurricane Helene flood of 2024. The report serves as a comprehensive overview of the group’s mission to coordinate resources, distribute aid, and provide guidance to residents navigating the path back to stability.
Formed in November 2024 in response to federal and state disaster declarations, the WCLTRG was established to address the long-term spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of those impacted by the flood. The disaster caused an estimated $44.6 million in property damage in Washington County, damaging over 400 properties and destroying approximately 175 homes.
2025 Key Achievements & Impact:
- Direct Property Support: The WCLTRG provided direct support to over 350 properties throughout 2025.
- Home Construction: Through partnerships with organizations, 75 homes were built in the county.
- Project Funding: The group funded more than 150 individual projects to help residents overcome specific recovery hurdles.
- Volunteer Mobilization: The WCLTRG attracted over 30,000 hours of volunteer labor into the county, valued at more than $1 million.
- Financial Stewardship: The group received $1.6 million in total funding in 2025, including significant contributions from the government, the East Tennessee Foundation, and the American Red Cross.
