How a Long Term Recovery Group Helps

A long term recovery group (LTRG) helps survivors recover from disaster in a number of ways. Primarily LTRGs, like the Washington County Recovery Group, support the recovery process by coordinating resources and survivors. LTRGs may provide critical information to survivors, host events for local resources, partner with survivors to prepare a recovery plan, and coordinate assistance betwen benefactors and survivors.

The Washington County Long Term Recovery Group (WCLTRG) can help residents in Washington County who are recovering from disaster. The group may provide navigation for residents who need help understanding the recovery process. The group may also provide information about resources in the area providing assistance to residents. Finally, the group may also provide assistance to residents who are stuck in their recovery and need help.

A personal recovery plan (PRP) is plan of action that leads a survivor back to a realistic point prior to disaster. Each PRP is unique and the group works with residents to assist when the recovery gets stuck. The group works with volunteer labor, local resources, and generous benefactors to help meet the needs of residents when they request help.

Residents are responsible to develop their own personal recovery plans and take a leadership role when working with the group. While LTRGs can help the community while recovering from disaster, the relationship between a resident and the WCLTRG is built around the group supporting residents as they rebuild their lives here in Washington County.
